TSA Given Permission to Enforce Public Transportation Mask Mandate

The Department of Homeland Security has stated that TSA (Transportation Security Administration) workers will now have the authority to enforce President Joe Biden’s mandate on mask-wearing and transportation—quote, “at TSA screening checkpoints and throughout the commercial and public transportation system.”

Acting Secretary David Pekoske signed a “determination of national emergency” that said the TSA is allowed to can “take actions consistent with the authorities” of its own federal jurisdiction so that it can be allowed to enforce the mask mandate order that the CDC has come up with.

The CDC issued an order that requires all people to wear a mask while using any form of public transportation. This included on board planes, trains, boats, subways, buses, taxis and ride-shares. It also included related buildings such as transportation hubs and airports.
