American Airlines: What to Do About The Wine?

As the pandemic waxes and wanes airlines are still only flying at a small fraction of what they are capable of. In many cabins alcohol is banned to help defeat the spread of Covid-19. In turn, the booze is piling up! American Airlines has found a solution in the hopes of selling and shipping some of its excess wine. Where to? Directly to people’s homes.

The company announced the new program calling it American Airlines Flagship Cellars. It’ll give wine drinkers a chance to by wine (by the battle) or in curated custom cases selected by the airline or a monthly subscription service that will cost $99 a month.

The prices for American Airlines Flagship Cellars program ranges from about $13-$40. The most expensive offering is a 3-pack of champagne at $300.

The $99 monthly subscription to American Airlines Flagship Cellars gives a customer discounted prices, a monthly shipment of 3 bottles and they will earn up to two AAdvantage Miles for each dollar they spend in the program.

The wine for the Flagship Cellars program come from the stores that would have served American Airlines’ “Flagship” ticket holders. This is a luxury option on transcontinental or international flights.
