One World Trade Center’s One World Observatory Public Opening May 29th, 2015

The beautiful new One World Trade Center in New York City, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, which stands 1,776 feet tall (including the 408 foot spire) is home to what some believe will become New York’s most popular new tourist attraction – the One World Observatory.

The Observatory occupies levels 100-102 of the One World Trade Center. Visitors of the Observatory will be treated to a a truly astonishing panoramic view of nearly all of New York City from 1,250 feet above ground!

Although the view from this spectacular vantage point is the main attraction, the developers have not skimped on the extras. The experience will begin with a ride on of the five Sky Pod elevators that reach the 102nd floor in less than 60 seconds. During the Sky Pod ride visitors will witness a virtual floor-to-ceiling recreation of the development of New York City, 1600 to Present, in time-lapse.

The Observatory itself includes an interactive skyline tour guide named City Pulse. City Pulse is, physically, a ring of HD video monitors that interact with guests through gesture recognition technology. This will allow guests to bring educational imagery to the screens to find out more about the landmarks and neighborhoods they are viewing. Then there is the Sky Portal – a 14 foot wide circular screen that delivers real-time footage of the streets below the One World Trade Center.
