Disney has announced that it is going to reimagine one of its classic attractions after years of criticisms
Disney’s Jungle Cruise ride—that includes joking skippers on the ferries guests ride on—was one of the last Walt Disney oversaw in person. The ride exists in both US locations.
Unfortunately for Disney the Jungle Cruise hasn’t aged as well as other attractions. While the attraction is largely based on nature documentaries, one of the scenes in the ride depicts native people as threatening, primitive and wild.
Among the updates there will be a new skipper character.
While there is a “Jungle Cruise move slated for 2021 starting Jesse Plemons, Emily Blunt and The Rock (as the skipper), Disney has not confirmed whether the new version of the ride will including any overlap with the new movie.
The Jungle Cruise is only one among several Disney attractions called out in recent years for inappropriate imagery.
