Let’s look at Sub-Saharan Africa
This is the area located below the Sahara Desert in Africa. There is a variety of climates from rain-forest to desert to grasslands.
You can fly within Africa on Fastjet for as little as 32,000 Tsh (about $19.60 USD).
So what can you do in Africa? Consider some of the following:
- Safari. This in Swahili means “to journey”. The best time for a safari is when the animals are numerous. Due to climate changes, the animals could be in different areas different times of the years, so depending on where you want to go, you can choose which month to go. You can find a list by month on About.com of where to go when to see which animals.
- Beach. You can relax on one of the many beaches in South Africa. There are many tourist destinations with resorts.
- Hiking. Consider the many mountain regions to go hiking or backpacking. You can even try to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania if you are fit. This is hard to do and takes 7-10 days.
- Serengeti National Park. Human habitation is forbidden here. It houses the “big five”: lions, leopards, elephants, black rhinos, buffalo. You will also find cheetahs, gazelles, elands, hyenas, baboons, impalas, and giraffes as well as 500 bird species to name a few.
This list isn’t exhaustive, Jody, but these are ideas for a fun and different vacation.
